Phoenix®
Solar Water Heater
The Phoenix® Solar Water Heater from HTP is
a revolutionary product that combines an internal
solar heat exchanger with a 96%-efficient gas-fired
back-up, all in one storage tank. When connected
to solar collectors, the Phoenix Solar Water
Heater harnesses the power of the sun to provide
ample Domestic Hot Water while reducing energy
costs and pollution. When the sun’s energy is
not enough, the gas-fired back-up heat source
engages, providing large quantities of hot water
without consuming large amounts of energy, thanks
to modulating condensing technology and a 96%
thermal efficiency rating. The Phoenix Solar
Water Heater is suitable for a variety of commercial
and residential water heating needs, including
hotels, apartment buildings, restaurants, laundry
facilities, schools, homes, and more.
Features
- Minimal energy costs – solar
energy provides 50-75% of your home hot water
needs
- Environmentally conscious –
each solar panel prevents tons of carbon dioxide
from being released into the atmosphere --
the equivalent of planting more than 40 trees
- Built-in gas back-up – when
the sun is not shining, the gas burner provides
ample hot water while operating at 96% Thermal
Efficiency and 93% Combustion Efficiency
- High system efficiency even during
low load conditions – the modulating
burner operates at a 3 to 1 turndown ratio,
matching fuel consumption to demand
- Improved component life and reliability –
modulation, along with thermal mass, eliminates
the short cycling effect, which conserves energy
and improves component reliability
- Enhanced comfort and efficiency –
weather responsive outdoor reset controls match
the supply temperature to the heating need,
preventing overheating
- Appropriate for both residential
and commercial applications – available
in two gallon sizes (80 or 119 gallons) and
2 BTU inputs (130,000 or 199,000 BTUs)
- Low standby losses – the
tank loses only ½ degree Fahrenheit per hour
when the burner is off, thanks to 2” of environmentally
safe foam insulation
- Virtually maintenance free operation –
the robust material and sophisticated design
of the heat exchanger minimize lime and scale
buildup, eliminating blockage risks
- Incredible system flexibility –
built-in auxiliary taps provide connections
to air handlers, radiant heating, or supplemental
storage tanks
- Optimum serviceability –
a removable casing provides service technicians
easy access to components
- Quality construction – an
extremely durable cupronickel and stainless
steel heat exchanger boasts excellent heat
transfer properties and resists corrosion,
while the robust 316L stainless steel tank
eliminates the need for anode rods
- Excellent venting options –
uses inexpensive, easy-to-install PVC or CPVC
pipe, with vent lines up to 85 feet total equivalent
length
- Self-diagnostic electronic control –
displays digital readouts for water temperature,
set point and differential
- Eligible for tax credits and utility
company rebates – based on high
efficiency ratings
