The Hydra Smart RTC is a commercial condensing gas tankless water heater manufactured with a high grade stainless steel heat exchanger to provide endless hot water. The unit has a 10 to 1 turndown and is highly efficient, with a .95 Energy Factor and .93 UEF. It is also Energy Star certified. The Hydra Smart RTC is eco-friendly with a low NOx combustion system. The RTC will supply high temperature for sanitation and will cascade up to 18 units - up to 6 units common vented. You will never run out of hot water with this advanced modulating tankless water heater, available in natural gas or liquid propane. We carry the full line of new replacement parts for HTP.

Endless Hot Water

The RTC is currently available in 199,000 BTUs. It delivers endless hot water for when your family or business needs it most with 5 Gallon Per Minute (GPM) at 77 F rise, 8.5 GPM at 45 F rise or 11GPM at a 35 F rise.

How does tankless technology work? Water flows through a large coil and is heated only when needed (on demand) using gas; there is no storage tank continuously maintaining hot water.

We're Smart About Water Heating

The Hydra Smart RTC is made with high quality stainless steel heat exchangers for excellent heat transferability and longevity.

The RTC is highly efficient with a 0.95 Energy Factor and 10 to 1 turndown ratio. It has a low NOx combustion system, making this unit eco-friendly. The unit also contains a burner overheat cutoff device, flue high limit switch and a water temperature high limit switch for further protection!

See the Estimated Yearly Energy Cost with the help of the yellow Energy Guide here.

Quality

The RTC is manufactured with high grade stainless steel heat exchangers. Stainless steel resists corrosion and provides a longer life expectancy by design. It is available in natural gas and liquid propane and is high altitude compliant up to 10,000 ft. above sea level!

A better experience with every installation

Did you know you can cascade up to 18 RTC units and up to 6 units common vented.

The Hydra Smart RTC vents in inexpensive, easy-to-install PVC, CPVC, and Polypropylene piping up to 50' with 2" pipe or up to 100' with 3" pipe.

We recommend referencing local codes for additional requirements.

How Tankless Water Heating Works

Tankless Water Heaters (commonly referred to as on-demand or instantaneous water heaters) provide hot water when needed versus traditional tank type water heaters, which store the hot water. A major benefit to using a tankless water heater is that it doesn't produce the energy losses associated with tank type water heaters. The result is increased efficiencies and cost savings.

As soon as the hot water tap is turned on, cold water travels through plumbing to reach a Hydra Smart series unit. The Hydra Smart's gas burner then heats the water on demand. You will no longer need to wait for a tank type water heater to fill up with enough hot water. (HTP does recommend reviewing a tankless water heater's flow rate outputs)

For homes that use 41 gallons or less of hot water daily, demand water heaters can be 24%-34% more energy efficient than conventional storage tank water heaters. They can be 8%-14% more energy efficient for homes that use a lot of hot water -- around 86 gallons per day. You can achieve even greater energy savings of 27%-50% if you install a demand water heater at each hot water outlet. ENERGY STAR f estimates that a typical family can save $100 or more per year with an ENERGY STAR qualified tankless water heater. (Energy.gov)

Tankless water heaters are typically more expensive than a traditional atmospheric tank-type water heater, but tankless water heaters will typically last longer and have lower operating and energy costs, which could offset the higher price point. As an added bonus, all of HTP's Tankless Water Heaters are ENERGY STAR certified! The tankless water heaters use a secondary heat exchanger to use 9% less energy than a conventional, non-ENERGY STAR certified gas tankless water heater. The secondary heat exchanger extracts more heat from the combustion gas, cooling it to the point where there is condensation, hence these types of heaters are called gas condensing.
